MosaicMill is not developing cameras or sensors, instead our principle is to trust that the professional photographic companies have the best solutions for the image capture. As the camera and sensor development is fast the camera options change often.

Currently for standard medium format (about 5000 x 3500 pixels) imaging we recommend e.g professional Nikon and Canon models, which are reviewed by dpreview:

• Canon Eos 1ds Mark III.
• Nikon D3x

• Hasselblad cameras with a selection of sensors of different sizes.
• Sony Alpha series, for example Alpha 900 or 850.
• Pentax 645D medium format camera.

• Panasonic Lumix DMC series.
• Olympus E-P series.
• Sony Nex series.
• Samsung NX series.

CIR-converted cameras

We offer a service to convert standard digital SLR cameras to capture CIR and RGB instead of the standard RGB only. The converted camera is provided with two lenses filtered to capture RGB or CIR, thus on one flight it is possible to capture either CIR or RGB but not both.

The converted cameras are reconfigured and calibrated to optimize the captured images and to provide metric output. For high quality images it is essential to run the images through DigiPreProcess software which optimizes the CIR output.
